New Mexico Artists

New Mexico artists have always benefited from an unique heritage.

The cultural influences all gather to release amazing work arts.

The most important and influential factor in shaping the work of nowadays New Mexico artists should not be searched for in museums or in big cities. The one element that seems to dominate the work of most artists is the nature and the desert in general. This is even more accentuated when you watch the work of Native American artists. The traditional methods of drawing, painting and sculpting have been kept religiously over centuries and all the modern art works seem to gather behind that human effort and genius which made human life and art to thrive on these lands.

The Mexican heritage can also be felt in the works of the New Mexico artists. Typically the "sangre caliente" or hot blood will make Latin American artists to instinctively draw with a lot of passion and generally to exclude too abstract styles from their portfolio. The vibrancy that these work arts have is nothing short of amazing, The rich colors and the dynamic feeling all gather to create an universe of movement and human feelings. There have been times when certain political factors have stopped these artists from truly reaching their potential, but as the political forces have begun to recognize the Latin American community to its true potential, many hidden gems of talent began showing up.

The traditional American values can also be found in the works of the New Mexico artists. This influence acts as an engine which pushes breakthroughs and introduction of new styles. The continental American influence is also very visible in the way in which certain artists seem drawn almost instinctively to the notions of open space and freedom. The dreams of the founders can still be easily recognized in the works of the nowadays artists, although some may argue that the freedom of the Route 66 is more visible than the one in the constitution.

Altogether these three distinctive influences have helped in shaping the nowadays cultural identity of the New Mexico artists. Together these very different cultures were slowly merged into a new, unique one. We can only guess what the future will bring, but as the different ethnic groups seem to pass through a reawakening period we can safely expect that this will have a deep and profound effect on the overall cultural landscape. We cannot guess how the works of the future artists will look like, but we can rest assured that they will be amazing.
